ABS-SOFT
Software development

The SOFT is a professional service rendered as part of Acumen's Engineered Solutions. Usually an ABS Functional Definition / Design Specification precedes and guides the software engineering effort. The design side of the FDDS delineates the scope of the software engineering it specifies the deliverable format. Software is developed using a modular approach sub-dividing the application for teaming and quality purposes. Rapid, quality development occurs to specification then assembly of the modules into the application allows for easy testing. Prototyping allows quick feedback from the client during development. Adjustments to the specifications can be quickly documented and escalated for the project team review. Final stage of SOFT includes quality assurance testing and documentation review. Once accepted, the software is packaged and delivered as an install set.

Training

Acumen provides for training client staff in the use and operation of automated data collection systems. Typical training programs are provided for management, operations and users. Most common is the "Train the Trainer" concept. The specifics of a training program are defined in the ABS-FDDS document. Elements of training are specific to the software and hardware delivered. For an example the Time/Data terminal user training, a supervisor can be intimately trained in the use of the Swipe reader, keypad and functions of the Time/Data terminal for example: Swipe reader is used for clocking. On the ID badge on what side should the bar code is facing? What direction do I run the ID badge through the slot? During the FDDS, ABS will prepare specifications for diagrams depicting use of the Time/Data Terminal.

ABS-FDDS
Functional Definition / Design Specification

The FDDS is a professional service rendered as part of Acumen's Engineered Solutions. The FDDS is the initial phase of a project. Usually the FDDS is connected with the pre-sale assumptions that at least one of the ABS system components requires an enhancement or a new module is being developed. The FDDS includes a combined discovery and architecture approach to solving automation. During discovery intensive consultative and information exchanges occurs with clients to define business automation. Our experts offer clear unique insights this along with the client's fluency, which provides a clear scope of work. The architecting consists of high-level and detailed design elements. The high level design offers a view of the component parts of the system. The detailed design provides the framework. I.E. the transaction and user interface.
